Today’s venues have become stylish with works of art, with lights, drapes, flowers etc. Hotels and community centers have become the new venue in place of the home of the bride or one of her relatives. Clubs, restaurants and any large space are now becoming venues. These hotels and community centers have their own in-house decorators and catering services. Decorators are hired for designing set. All these have added extra features with new looks and style.

Today’s Wedding Event

The Bangladeshi Muslim wedding has traditionally had four ceremonies: the two holuds, the akht/biye, and the walima. There are variations also. In some cases, the bride has a mehendi ceremony instead of the holud or there's the joint holud. Entertainment at weddings has also changed dramatically. Professional bands and choreographed performances replaced the old parodies and songs. And these are usually performed by every member. These events usually take place during the holuds. Thus today’s wedding events are more colorful, attractive and full of excitement.
